System Administrator Level 2 | Fort Meade, MD

Overview

We’re looking for a skilled System Administrator (Level 2) to support a mission-critical environment. This role requires deep technical knowledge in Linux/Unix and Windows systems, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with modern automation and containerization tools. You’ll be part of a high-performing team supporting national security operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and maintain complex IT systems in a high-security environment

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and software

  • Perform system tuning and implement OS enhancements for performance and reliability

  • Manage and support virtualized and containerized infrastructures

  • Monitor systems, respond to incidents, and resolve hardware/software issues

  • Apply patches, ensure compliance, and support system hardening efforts

Required Skills

  • Strong Linux/Unix and Windows system administration experience

  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)

  • Scripting experience in Python

  • Experience with automation tools like Ansible

  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field

Experience

  • With Degree: 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Without Degree: 15+ years of relevant experience

Clearance Required: Active Full Scope Polygraph (FSP)
