Information Assurance Specialist 4

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Information Assurance Specialist 4 to join our cybersecurity team. As an information security risk specialist, you will collaborate with information system owners, administrators, cybersecurity risk managers, and authorizing officials to identify cyber risks and develop effective mitigation strategies. Your role will involve comprehensive assessments of technical, environmental, and personnel factors to provide a holistic view of potential threats and vulnerabilities.

This position will require ongoing risk evaluations, remediation plan development, and support to the client in understanding security measures to protect their systems. You will ensure the effective translation of security concepts into actionable decisions, helping the organization enhance its cybersecurity posture and reduce its attack surface.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments by evaluating information systems, networks, and software for vulnerabilities.
  • Work with system owners, administrators, and risk managers to develop, document, and track mitigation strategies.
  • Continuously assess and monitor security controls in alignment with the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST 800-53 guidelines.
  • Communicate complex security concepts and risks to clients, enabling informed decision-making on threat reduction.
  • Support the implementation of effective risk remediation strategies to meet compliance and security requirements.
  • Ensure proper security documentation and reporting for risk mitigation efforts.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in information technology (IT) or cybersecurity roles.
  • Expertise in assessing and implementing security controls for information systems.
  • Knowledge of NIST RMF and NIST 800-53 controls.
  • Strong ability to track and manage progress in remediation of identified risks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with risk managers, system owners, and other cybersecurity professionals.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Information Assurance Management Level I (or higher) certification compliant with relevant standards.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity environments and requirements in similar organizations is a plus.
Clearance Requirement:
  • Applicants must hold an active TS/SCI clearance and may undergo further security investigations to meet eligibility requirements for classified information access.
